Why the City is sending its own mission to Brussels
The Financial Times has caused a
fluttering in Square Mile dovecotes with a story suggesting that a City
delegation will this week head to Brussels armed with a "secret
blueprint" for a post-Brexit free trade deal on financial services.
According to the FT, the central plank of the
proposal is to allow continued "mutual access", in other words allowing
financial services companies in Britain and the remaining 27 EU
countries to continue to operate in each other's markets without
barriers, even if the UK leaves the single market.
