Mixed finish for European stocks
Stronger than expected economic growth from China
set a positive note initially for investors. But there was still some
caution ahead of a busy week for US company results, while weak US
manufacturing figures added to the expectation that the Federal Reserve
would hold back on further rate rises.
So in all it was a mixed performance. Most European markets dipped back, but the Chinese data helped lift commodity prices and in turn mining shares, which pushed the FTSE 100 higher. David Madden, market analyst at CMC Markets UK, said.
